In Individual counseling—sometimes called psychotherapy or talk therapy—is a process where clients work one-on-one with me in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. Through this work, individuals can explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors; process influential or painful memories; identify areas of life they wish to change; gain deeper self-understanding; and set personal goals that support lasting growth.
Many people carry emotional wounds from past experiences that continue to disrupt their present lives. My role is to help you identify those underlying wounds (often rooted in trauma) and guide you through treatments designed to reduce or eliminate the trauma response, so you can move forward with greater clarity and peace.
In recent years—especially following the pandemic—I’ve noticed more people of all ages reflecting deeply on the meaning of life and what it takes to create a more fulfilling future after significant challenges and losses. This time of collective uncertainty has prompted many to reassess their priorities and sense of purpose. While a therapist cannot change the state of the world, I can offer a steady presence and a space to help you sort through your thoughts, find direction, and take meaningful action. Together, we can develop tools to quiet the constant “hamster wheel” of the mind, make room for reflection, and normalize your experiences so you can feel grounded again. Now more than ever, therapy can help you explore and embrace the “new you” emerging from change.
Many of my individual clients come to therapy seeking personal growth, healing, and freedom from dysfunctional family patterns. Lately, I’ve also worked with many individuals who feel torn between “two worlds”—often young adults whose parents are immigrants with strong cultural traditions that can feel difficult to reconcile with life in the United States. As your therapist, my commitment is to understand your unique background, values, and worldview. I approach each person with cultural sensitivity and curiosity, working from your lens to support the life you want to create.
