About Therapy or What to Expect

Why Choose a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist?

Seeking help from a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is a sign of courage and a positive step toward emotional well-being. Whether you're struggling with relationship issues, grief, anxiety, trauma, or life transitions, therapy offers space for healing, insight, and long-term change.

What Sets Licensed Therapists Apart

All LMFTs hold a Master’s or Doctoral degree and are trained in a wide range of mental health issues, including:

  • Relationship challenges

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma and life transitions

  • Behavioral patterns

We complete thousands of supervised clinical hours, pass state licensing exams, and continue education throughout our careers. Many of us also receive additional training in specific areas we are passionate about, such as couples therapy, trauma, and grief counseling.

Therapist or Coach—What’s the Difference?

While coaches can be helpful in achieving goals, most are not licensed or trained to treat mental health conditions unless they also hold a clinical license.

Licensed therapists:

  • Are held to legal and ethical standards

  • Are trained to treat emotional and psychological issues

  • Work under state licensing boards and strict regulations

Coaches do not complete clinical training or supervision, and they are not qualified to support you through deeper emotional or relational struggles.

My Approach to Therapy

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy.

Instead, I work collaboratively with you to:

  • Identify what’s not working in your life

  • Understand where your patterns began and how they show up today

  • Offer tools and insights that align with your values and personality

  • Support you in healing both present challenges and unresolved past wounds

As a trauma-informed therapist, I also consider your:

  • Cultural background

  • Family-of-origin influences

  • Belief systems and personal identity

  • Lifestyle and lived experience

You are not a diagnosis—you’re a whole person. Therapy is tailored to honor that.

What You Can Expect From Me

  • A safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space

  • Clinical insight with emotional warmth

  • Tools that help you cope, grow, and move forward

  • Someone who will hold hope for you when you can’t

  • The freedom to express yourself—whether with words, tears, or silence

Let’s Work Together

I work virtually across California and in person in Los Angeles. My clients often tell me they feel understood, supported, and empowered by our work together.

If you're ready to take the next step toward change, I would be honored to support you

Couples/Premarital Counseling

Couples therapy focuses on the issues existing in the relationship between two people. But these relational questions most always involve individual symptoms and  problems as well as the relationship conflicts.

Individual Counseling

The individual circumstances that lead to one’s decision to pursue therapy are diverse and unique. Such seasons of life can be painful, disorienting, and lonely. I work with individuals on a range of issues, including life transitions, identity & spirituality questions, anxiety, and depression. Together, we’ll explore your unique experiences and create a safe environment to face life’s current challenges.

Loss and Grief

One thing we are all going to face in life is LOSS.  Often people think loss is only by death but everyday losses such
as health, divorce, loss of a job, finances, retirement, empty nest syndrome, youth, aging parents ,family and friends moving away, etc, can be difficult losses to cope with. We often need to obtain some perspective to help us move through life's changes.

Life Coach/Media Consulting

Life coaching has grown to be a hugely successful form of talking therapy, to the extent that it has helped turn people's lives around. A life coach is someone that looks to empower others by helping them make, meet and exceed goals in both their personal and professional lives.
